Every week you’ll find a WHITE envelope as well.

If you’ve been following the thread of postings over the past few weeks, you’ve found information about the various colored envelopes in your offering boxes.  To tie it all together, you might have noticed that the greatest number of envelopes are simply WHITE.  These are your weekly pledge envelopes.

The contributions you make in your white envelopes each week are used for “Current Expenses,” which is our general operating fund.  This includes everything from staff salaries and benefits, program costs (music for choirs, piano tuning, Sunday School materials, coffee hour supplies …), facility upkeep (including heating and cooling, electricity, water, equipment, minor repairs …), office supplies, other committee expenses, and so on.

Each December the Congregation votes on an Operating Budget that includes all of these expenses and attempts to balance these with the expected income from pledged and non-pledged contributions.

We are fortunate to have so many individuals in our congregation who give freely of their time and talents to do God’s work at the NRC.  We are reminded that it is also necessary to contribute regularly to the financial needs of our church.

Have you ever noticed the verse on this envelope?  “Upon the first day of the week, let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him.”  I Cor. 16:2
