NRC’s H&A Committee Hosts Another Successful Cemetery Tour

Posted on

The History and Archives Committee of Niskayuna Reformed Church hosted its second Cemetery Tour on Saturday, October 21.  The tours featured several early families of Niskayuna, including names like Bradt, Clute, Cregier, Fort, Freligh, Orlop, van Vranken, and Vedder.  Tours were led by Scott Haefner, a registered historian with the Association of Public Historians in New York State, and Rev. Norman Tellier, retired minister of the Reformed Church in America.

Committee members also hosted an eat-in or take-out box lunch for the event and  provided a running slide show of the information shared during the tours for those who were unable to make the walk through the cemetery.

The H&A Committee annually hosts two signature events.  In addition to the Cemetery Tour, the group is beginning plans for its participation in the May 2018 Sacred Sites Event, a program of the New York Landmarks Conservancy.  Be sure to watch for further information about this not-to-be-missed event in the coming months.
