Mark your calendar! Brooks BBQ is here from 3- 6pm (or until sold out)
We will not be including our famous, homemade brownies either. Instead, we will use the prepackaged cookies that Brooks will supply.
Dinners (half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll/butter, and cookie): $15.00
Half Chicken only: $10.00
If you can volunteer April 20th, please contact Kim Cerone @ 518-339-7504 or purdyka@aol.com.
If you are unable to volunteer, the best way you can help us is to swing in and purchase a great meal. Thank you for your support!

We are having our next Brooks BBQ on Wednesday, August 17th, 3 PM – SOLD OUT. We need volunteers to help us the day of the BBQ. There will be a need for inside help: assembling the chicken dinners, bagging dinners, and transporting dinners to the pickup tables. Outside help: ticket sales, traffic direction, and runners to take assembled dinners to the cars. A person will also be needed to keep track of the number of dinners sold.
Back by popular demand: BROWNIES!!! Baking and donating brownies are a great way to help it you can’t volunteer the day of the BBQ. We need you to bake at least 3 dozen brownies without nuts, cut them into approximately 3 x 3 squares and put them into individual plastic baggies.
If you can volunteer August 17th, between 3 and 6PM, there will be signup sheets for volunteering and baking brownies in the main hall of the Education Building.
If you are unable to make it into church and would like to volunteer in some way, please call me (Kim Cerone) @ 518-339-7504 or email me at purdyka@aol.com. Please leave your name and contact information, and I will get back to you.
Don’t feel bad if you are unable to volunteer, you can always swing in and purchase a great meal.
Dinners (half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll/butter, and brownie): $15.00
Half Chicken only: $10.00
WE DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS. PLEASE COME EARLY BECAUSE WE SELL OUT QUICKLY!
Niskayuna Reformed Church History & Archives Committee hosts
African American History in Schenectady:
The Lost Century
Tuesday, February 7, 2023 7:00 – 8:15 pm
Meet inside the sanctuary of Niskayuna Reformed Church
3041 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY
Guest speaker Michael Diana, Historian and Director of Education
of the Schenectady County Historical Society
Program: What does “freedom” look like when you are still a second-class citizen?
This presentation is both an introduction to black history in Schenectady and an attempt to answer that question. We begin with the difficult realities of slavery in our city’s Colonial past. From there, we will follow the gradual process of emancipation and the difficulties newly freed Schenectadians faced. We’ll see the many ways in which Schenectady’s black population largely disappeared throughout the course of the 19th century.
Free admission. Donations are appreciated in support of the mission of NRC’s History & Archives committee to promote awareness of the rich history of Niskayuna Reformed Church and to preserve historical records and artifacts for the congregation, community and future generations.
