In honor of the 170th anniversary of the dedication of Niskayuna Reformed Church’s building and sanctuary, the History & Archives committee will host the worship service on July 31 at 9:30 a.m. with a historical address in lieu of a sermon. While the congregation dates back to about 1750, the church building at 3041 Troy-Schenectady Road in Niskayuna was completed in 1852 and has been in continuous use since that time. This special service will take place inside the church’s sanctuary at 3041 Troy-Schenectady Rd.
An address giving a short overview of the church’s history will be presented. Members of the choir will sing hymns from the original dedication and past commemoration services. A new compilation booklet, A History of the Niskayuna Reformed Church, will be available for purchase at the weekly coffee hour following the service inside Fellowship Hall. Complimentary cake, coffee and lemonade will be served. Proceeds from the $5 booklet will support the church’s History & Archives committee.
